Ben Tinker is the Vice President of Domestic Beats, responsible for the network’s health, medical and wellness reporting, as well as climate, weather and race. Previously he served as Executive Producer for CNN Health, and Supervising Producer for CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

For more than three years, Tinker produced CNN’s weekly health and wellness program, “Sanjay Gupta MD,” providing consumer-driven news and advice for living a longer, happier, healthier life. During that time, the show was nominated for three Emmy® awards and won three New York Festival awards.

Tinker is also the recipient of a New York Festival award for his documentary “Dementia Village,” part of CNN International’s “World’s Untold Stories” franchise. He was a member of the team that received a prestigious Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Award in 2014 for their groundbreaking enterprise reporting on medical marijuana. In 2018, he won an Emmy® for his work on CNN’s Special Report “Separated: Saving the Twins,” which told the story of conjoined twins Jadon and Anias McDonald. And in 2019 he was awarded an Emmy® for his contribution to the Anderson Cooper 360° special report “Finding Hope: Battling America’s Suicide Crisis.”

Prior to joining CNN Health, Tinker worked for CNNMoney (now CNN Business), where he produced “Your Bottom Line,” the network’s weekly personal finance show.

Tinker is a regular contributor to CNN.com, with special interests in dementia/Alzheimer’s, diet/nutrition and HIV/AIDS. He holds dual degrees in journalism and psychology from New York University.
